Prep (it really wasnt a horrible book)

Okay, so after reading the comments on my previous post, I think I gave people the wrong idea. Even though it isn't one of my favorite books, its not my my least favorite either. It just didn't go like I expected, but don't let my own opinion stop you from reading it. You should read it and form your own opinion. I'm just picky when it comes to books that I actually consider as interesting.

Done with Prep

I finally finished reading Prep. I didn't finish it as soon as i had hoped to, but its done and over with. Not to say, it was a bad book but once again, the ending wasn't something I enjoyed very much. In the beginning of the book, I thought, this is going to be really interesting. But after finishing two-thirds of it, my thoughts changed. I wouldn't strongly recommend this book to anyone. It was alright, not great. The ending was kind of a dissapointment because nothing much happened. Things ended, they stopped, thats it. The end.

Character Profile: Lee Fiora

Lee Fiora is the main character in my book. She basically moved from her hometown in the midwest, Southbend, Indiana, to a new rich boarding school, Ault.
What the character says/ what the character does: I am writing about these two together because, I feel that they are kind of connected in a way and relate to one another. Lee Fiora thinks a lot about things. I would even say that she over thinks them. Stresses about little things and makes them into a big deal, this is easy to relate to because I do this sometimes too. Although so many thoughts run through her head, very few of them actually come out. She thinks about things to do, things to say, and how to act, but most of the time she never does it.
What others say about the character: Since there are so many students at Ault, and so many people that Lee comes in contact with everyday, certain people have different opinions about her. I am sure, that Conchita, the person she was supposed to room with but ended up ditching and for Conchita's friend, Martha doesn't consider her the most thoughtful person in the world. Although Conchita was very upset about this at first, she ended up not despising Lee although she felt used. But, Martha on the otherhand would think pretty highly of her. Although Martha is one of the rich kids at Ault, Martha and Lee can relate to each other really easily. I would even say that they're best friends.
Direct description from the author : The author does not give much of a direct description of Lee. I really can't think of any time where the author just directly talks about Lee. I am pretty sure there might have been a few sentences where that has happened, but nothing that really stood out.
How others act towards her: The way other people treat her depends on the way she treats people. There are a lot of people that she ends up not acting properly towards and they just end up leaving and never making any contact again. There are also people that end up drifting away from her and not being as close. Even though its not like they hate her, its just that with the way things are, its the only way.
In my opinion: In my opinion, Lee is ia very kind girl that is just trying to figure out what she wants to do and how to get adjusted at a school like Ault. Even though she hurt people's feelings she is just trying to learn and understand things better. She is only trying to find her way around and make the best of her situation.

265 pages done

I have finished 265 pages and I'm pretty sure I'll continue reading over this weekend. I think that so far, this book has been pretty interesting. When I first started reading this book, I was like..oh my gosh this is pretty interesting but now that im like two thirds done with it and I look back, it wasn't thaat great. It was just my initial reaction because I just came out of reading a book called The Lovely Bones which wasn't packed with much excitement. So, each chapter is like a semester of Lee's school year. A lot of things have changed.
At first, Lee was a lonely girl who was at Ault on a scholarship. Now, she has a fair amount of friends. But, she still doesn't completely fit in with the average rich and confident students there. One thing that changed was her relationships with people. After such few conferences with her parents, she isn't as close to them anymore. During parent's weekend, she even got slapped by her dad for being so disrespectful. She also changed roomates and her friend from freshman year, Conchita isn't very good friends anymoe because she thought that Lee used her to get to know Martha, her current roomate.
One thing that Lee said that really left an impression on me was when she talked about how certain people and relationships were meant to happen to help you learn and prepare for future ones. I think this is very true, the people you hurt the most and treat the worst are the ones that make you realize your mistakes. This part of the book, (pg 245) is my favorite, as of now. I will hopefully finish this book really soon like..before the end of next week..or maybe even in the middle.
